Fort Worth Zoo!

We're the new "Crocodile Hunters"! We went to the Fort Worth Zoo on Saturday, spur of the moment, and had a BLAST!
(No animals were harmed in the making of these memories)
It's amazing how wide these birds' wings are!
A fun part of the Forth Worth Zoo is a western town. It's got a petting zoo and pony rides and the stores are decked out in western theme. If you look closely you can see Todd and Logan. It's part of a bat exhibit. You have to go in a cave partly underground and stick your head in the bubble to see the bats. Mama stayed outside, lol, and it took some coaxing to get Logan under there. :o)
One of my favorite parts of the zoo... the hippo. I have never seen one in real life before. They are massive and so stocky! One of the hippos snorted at us and scared Lyndsey. "I want a hippopotamus for Christmas," but Todd won't even let me have a dog so my chances are pretty slim, huh?
The elephants were fun too! This little one kept throwing a big log around and gave us a good show. FYI, this is about the time Logan took a potty break (Yes, he is officially potty-trained! YEAH!) and the restroom at this spot was basically an outhouse, complete with 3 inch spiders, clogged sink, and toilet paper everywhere. This shouldn't deter you from the zoo though, the others were just fine, lol.
Our little "Sweetie Doll," as Logan calls her. She like those flamingos!
I thought this was a pretty spot for a picture. Logan really liked the colorful birds, too.
A closer view of the wagon. Riding in style.

The orangatans were so funny. They are goofy animals and just looking at them makes you smile. Poor things are so hairy and it gets HOT in Texas.
We stopped at a spot to have a snack and there was a window to the gorillas nearby so we looked in and they came over and sat by us. You can see one behind Lyn.
It was sweet seeing them so close. They just hung out with us. It was kind of sad though, they must get tired of people making monkey sounds at them and having no privacy and freedom. I'm all for zoos, but it's sad that they have to live so confined.
Logan tried to give a leaf to the gorilla. It was so cute.
See? Look at those sad gorilla eyes. :*( I just wanna take them home! lol.

Looks like you guys had fun!! It great to do spur of the moment things like that! Zoo's are great but it is sad to see the animals all locked up like that.
